Ausgrid Works community survey & temporary closure of the Meadowbank Bridge pedestrian/cyclist access

Ausgrid plans to lay new underground cables from Top Ryde to Wentworth Point  via the substation in Meadowbank.

Ausgrid has now chosen a preferred route for the new underground electricity cables and is preparing an environmental assessment which will go on public exhibition later this year. Construction is expected to start in mid-2016.

Temporary closure of old Meadowbank Rail Bridge
The cable route includes a section which crosses the Parramatta River on the old Meadowbank Rail Bridge, which is now used as a pedestrian/cyclist bridge. During construction it may be necessary to close the bridge for approximately one month.

During September Ausgrid will be conducting a survey to find out more about how the bridge is used so they can plan the work to minimise impacts on pedestrians and cyclists. The survey can be completed through the link or by downloading the Meadowbank Bridge Survey and returning by post/email.

This is not a City of Canada Bay initiative, Council will consider a report next week on the implementation of this initiative and aims to seek clarification from Ausgrid to minimise negative impacts on our community.
